Professional Chefs Cooking Two Thousand Meals Daily for Houston Flood Victims

PORTSMOUTH, Vir., April 21, 2016 | Christian News Service | – Mercy Chefs, a Virginia based non-profit, disaster relief organization has deployed their team of professional chefs to feed thousands in Houston, Texas. Monday, the relief group left Virginia with one of their state of the art mobile kitchens in tow, headed for the disaster zone. The team arrived on site late Tuesday. By noon today, their chefs will begin serving 2,000 restaurant quality meals daily for all those affected by the severe flooding that has overtaken the city.

Mercy Chefs deploys to Houston TexasMercy Chefs’ mobile kitchen is stationed at the North West Community Church located at 12507 Windfern Road Houston, TX 77064. Residents, first responders and volunteers are invited to pick up lunch and dinner here. Meal times will be posted on the organization’s Facebook page.

An estimated 1,800 to 2,000 homes are still underwater in the surrounding neighborhoods. To reach these residences, Mercy Chefs will be partnering with the Salvation Army to make meal deliveries directly to these homes.

The organization exists to provide professionally prepared, restaurant quality meals to victims, volunteers and first responders in natural disasters and national emergencies.
