WASHINGTON (NRB) – National Religious Broadcasters congratulated Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.) today on his election as Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. NRB President & CEO Dr. Jerry A. Johnson issued the following statement: “I congratulate Congressman Greg Walden on his election to the chairmanship of the House Energy & Commerce Committee. As a former broadcaster, he well understands the importance of liberty and was a key leader in the charge to nail the so-called Fairness Doctrine into its coffin. NRB has recognized with gratefulness Rep. Walden’s strong leadership in years past, and we look forward to working with Chairman Walden on issues of life, freedom, and electronic media as he takes on this important new role.” NRB honored Rep. Walden with its Faith and Freedom Award in September 2011, the same year the text of the Fairness Doctrine was at long last finally and completely eliminated from the Code of Federal Regulations. The prestigious award honors stalwart defenders of First Amendment freedom and is presented during NRB’s Capitol Hill Media Summit, the annual meeting of the organization’s President’s Council. Mr. Trump Apologizes: America Should Too

October 8, 2016 | TruthPR | -- Mr. Donald Trump is raising the bar of America’s conscience. Apology is often the first step in correcting a wrong. Having moved for a position of saying “I don’t need forgiveness,” Mr. Trump is now taking a second look at past behaviors; things that he’s said and done that he regrets. While he is not asking for forgiveness for being human, he is admitting that he’s made mistakes and humbly making apologies.   I don’t know about you, but not many human beings allow themselves to be put on the front page and television screens of the world, in such a vulnerable way as to expose every big and little decision and action in their lives, past and present. Someone like Mr. Trump, who has almost “had it all” and who must have the shortest “bucket list” in history likely has pretty good reasons for facing judgment’s firing squad to offer himself for the nation’s biggest job; President of The United States. In apologizing for and correcting mistakes, boldly doing so before the entire world, Mr. Trump says he’s making the sacrifice for his children and grandchildren. That’s what’s at stake here folks; life now and forever. There is so much to lose, so much to gain for America’s children and grandchildren. “That the generation[s] to come, even the children yet to be born, that they may arise and tell them to their children... that a people yet to be created may praise the LORD." Psalms 78 and 102 While writing, saying and doing much, Mr. Trump is apologizing for his past sins. He’s walking away from supporting abortion, hurling insults and more. Now, America needs to follow suit and apologize for the scourge of legal abortion that has left millions of empty cradles, wombs barren, women’s health damaged, and families broken. As Americans, we all need to follow Mr. Trump’s lead and ask God for forgiveness for the sins of our nation, and yes, for ourselves.  Okay, Mr. Trump is “caught in the act[s]” of his past. Yes, he’s on the hot spot. God and the world are watching him. Yet, we all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. Not one of us is perfect. We need to humble ourselves, get our eyes off of the media hype of this election, onto the issues,  pray, forgive and vote. America needs to turn back to God.  ### Request…
Charlotte, n.c., July 15, 2016 /ChristianNewsService/ – An international coalition of crisis-trained chaplains with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team are returning to France to offer emotional and spiritual care on the streets of Nice following last night’s horrific terror attack. Though the situation continues to develop and unfold, the latest news reports indicate that more than 80 people died in the violent Bastille Day attack. Dozens more were injured. “Once again we find ourselves staring into the face of terror and evil,” said Jack Munday, international director of the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team. “We will bring a light of hope into a very dark situation, providing a ministry of presence for those who want to talk, pray, or grieve. So many need our prayers right now.” Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, used Twitter to ask for prayer following the tragedy: “Pray for France as the country grieves the loss of 84 people and many more wounded in the terror attack in #Nice.” The joint effort of the U.S., Canada and U.K. Billy Graham Rapid Response Teams includes French-speaking chaplains. It is anticipated that they will be joined by newly-trained chaplains from Paris and Brussels, cities that have also weathered terrorist attacks in recent months. The deployment to Nice marks the seventh time in the last 10 months that the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team has sent chaplains into areas involved in mass shootings or terror attacks. Chaplains are currently ministering in Dallas following the shooting deaths of five law enforcement officers last week, and they recently completed their ministry in Orlando after the massacre of 49 people in the Pulse nightclub. The group also responded to Brussels, Belgium (March 2016), San Bernardino, Calif. (December 2015), Paris, France (November 2015), and Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore. (October 2015). Additionally, chaplains continue to minister in Baton Rouge, La., Brazoria County, Texas, Kanawha County, W.Va., and Greenbrier County, W.Va. ATLANTA, GA, July 15, 2016 /ChristianNewsService/ -- Today, in France, across America and around the world, we are mourning, grieving, yet trusting in God. In Nice, France, 84 fallen by terrorist attacks. In America there will be memorial services for men who lost their lives in an American tragedy last week.  There are rumors of more rage filled protests, and there are rumblings of prayer and praise abounding. We mourn with the families of the deceased and implore Americans and people of faith in God around the world to unite as the Acts 17:26 "one blood" in repentance, love, unity and kindness to avert more violence and bloodshed; for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness from the womb to the tomb. ### Media Contact:Request an InterviewLeslie This email address is being protected from spambots. Charlotte, N.C., July 8, 2016 / Christian News Service / – Crisis-trained chaplains with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team have been deployed to the Dallas, Texas, area following last night’s shooting deaths of five law enforcement officers. It is reported that seven additional officers were wounded in the sniper-style attacks.   The violence broke out during an otherwise peaceful protest spurred by the recent shooting deaths of Philando Castile in Minnesota and Alton Sterling in Louisiana. Both men were killed by police officers. “It’s hard to know what to say in the face of all of the violence we’ve seen in recent days. Our hearts are broken,” said Jack Munday, international director of the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team. “Please pray for this entire situation, stretching from Minneapolis to Baton Rouge to Dallas. We’re sending chaplains into Dallas to offer a ministry of presence to a community in crisis.” Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, shared on Twitter: “Pray for the families of the officers killed in Dallas last night and for the recovery of those ambushed and wounded at the protest. Join me in praying for the loved ones of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling as well as their communities in Louisiana and Minnesota.” The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains recently completed their ministry in Orlando following the massacre of 49 people in the Pulse nightclub. Prior to that tragedy, the organization had responded to four other shootings or terror attacks in the previous nine months: Roseburg, Ore. (Umpqua Community College), and San Bernardino, Calif., domestically, and Paris, France, and Brussels, Belgium, internationally. ATLANTA, Geo., May 19, 2016 | Christian News Service | -- Both our sons and daughters are impacted by this toilet battle. They are either being flushed down the tube or exposed and exploited shamelessly.  This is a battle for THE SEED. Those who are confused between bathrooms will go in and out of both male and female facilities, approaching our boys and girls. The gender confused are also Satan's victims. As a mother and grandmother of both boys and girls... “Don’t you see that children are GOD’s best gift? the fruit of the womb his generous legacy? Like a warrior’s fistful of arrows are the children of a vigorous youth. Oh, how blessed are you parents, with your quivers full of children! Your enemies don’t stand a chance against you; you’ll sweep them right off your doorstep.” - Psalm 127:3-5 MSG Bathroom and abortion coercion have a lot in common. This just in from Newsone. Roe, Wade and Private BathroomsBy Nina May(Reprinted by permission) I really was trying to avoid writing about this because the left has such a sick agenda on all things “women”.  I think it is going to be up to each woman to do her own personal “Girlcott” of businesses who fall for this demeaning, unnecessary, unproductive and stupid idea of allowing men in the women’s restrooms.  The most obvious and apparent inconsistency, in this new dictate from on high, is that it is a direct contradiction of the finding in Roe. vs. Wade which was all about a woman’s right to privacy and the fact that the government could not tell a woman what to do with her body.  But now, that same government is taking away the most private aspect of a woman’s life, and that is her bathroom habits.  If she wanted to go into the bathroom to have an abortion, they would clear the entire store of anyone standing in her way, including men pretending to be women for the purpose of preying on them.   And from a practical perspective, how are you going to prove who is who or what? Are you going to make the men drop and the women pull up their dresses to check for the sex the way they do with the baby chicks at Tractor Supply?  But you can be sure, if they put urinals in the women’s bathroom and a guy, dressed as a woman, is standing…
WASHINGTON (NRB), May 10, 2016 | Christian News Service | – Revelations that Facebook regularly suppresses conservative news websites from its trending section is just the latest example of a pattern of censorship by the social media behemoth, according Dr. Jerry A. Johnson, President & CEO of National Religious Broadcasters. “It’s time for Facebook to face the facts,” Johnson said in response to a May 9 report that former Facebook staff said the company regularly suppresses conservative news sources. “Social media users expect a level playing field and are tired of Facebook’s one-sided neutrality. For some time, Facebook has shut down conservative pages or censored their comments. Now Facebook is caught burying conservative news stories and puffing liberal ones. Facebook must change if they want our trust and our participation on their platform.” Gizmodo, a technology blog, quoted anonymously several former Facebook employees — “news curators” — that the social media company manipulated the use of its algorithm. Employees both “routinely suppressed news stories of interest to conservative readers,” according to one its former journalists, and were instructed to artificially “inject” stories that were favored by Facebook management, known for its liberal positions on cultural issues. Facebook responded to the Gizmodo report — and other news accounts about the report — by denying the claims. Insisting it has “strict guidelines” for the trending topics staff and does not allow discrimination of sources based on ideological origin, the social media giant noted: “Reviewers are required to accept topics that reflect real world events, and are instructed to disregard junk or duplicate topics, hoaxes, or subjects with insufficient sources.” Facebook’s assurances did not satisfy Johnson. “Unfortunately, Facebook’s explanation does not adequately reassure us of its neutrality following this whistleblower report and previously documented incidents of censorship,” Johnson said. “Facebook should take this opportunity to declare its commitment to free speech for all on its platform and to implement a transparent policy holding its employees accountable for not discriminating, consciously or subconsciously, against viewpoints they may not value or agree with — including those they may wish to be ‘hoaxes’ or have ‘insufficient sources.’” Since 2011, NRB has documented cases of internet-based censorship of Christian views and other free speech violations through its John Milton Project for Free Speech. Starting with the 2010 example of Apple removing evangelical leader Chuck Colson’s Manhattan Declaration from its iTunes App Store, the Project has published a chart with instances…
In the news this week, new faces for America's currency are being highlighted and proposed as possible solutions to the not yet defeated nemesis of racism. Meanwhile, another “purple light” has gone out, with the death of Prince.  Harriet Tubman will replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill. Andrew Jackson will be moved to the back. Often nicknamed "Moses," Ms. Tubman was a remarkable woman and a Christian female liberator. She guided slaves to freedom, worked alongside Susan B. Anthony in the Suffragette Movement, was a confidant of Frederick Douglass and played a role in the Civil War.   Connecting the 19th century freedom struggles to the 20th century battle for racial justice, recommendations have been made to include Martin Luther King, Jr., sometimes known as “The Black Moses,” of his day, on the five dollar bill in the near future as one of the faces of the Civil Rights Movement. During his lifetime, Uncle ML fought for liberty, racial justice, righteousness, and dignity for all human beings, born and unborn. Many people don't know that during Liberator Tubman's remarkable "Underground Railroad” journey, there were often pregnant women and families with little children on the journey to freedom. As a Christian, Tubman did not advocate abortion or infanticide; instead she developed creative methods to calm the children and indeed all of the escaping slaves as they braved the famous, historical Underground Railroad trek. In continuation, The Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s was a pivotal time in our nation’s history as it addressed the civil rights of so many people in our country and tackled the issues of gaining racial equality and ending segregation. The 20th Century Civil Rights Movement, of which many members of the "King Family Legacy" were a part, is now a historical landmark in the journey to true Jubilee.   Yes, we are making advances, yet we still have a long way to go towards achieving racial harmony and regard for the human personality. “Any law that uplifts human personality is just. Any law that degrades human personality is unjust.” Martin Luther King, Jr., Letter from a Birmingham jail. Speaking of human personalities, a bright “purple” light has left the planet. Prince, the famous rock singer has left us. He is remembered for his music, and his legendary romance with “Vanity.” Denise Katrina Matthews, better known as “Vanity” was a Canadian singer, songwriter, dancer, actress and…
Christian Action League Hosts Rally April 11 in Raleigh, North Carolina   RALEIGH, NC., April 8, 2016 | Christian News Service | -- The Christian Action League of North Carolina, Return America, along with other social conservative groups in the state will have a The Christian Action League of North Carolina, Return America, along with other social conservative groups in the state will have a rally on the south side lawn of the capital building in Raleigh, Monday, April 11th, starting at noon time. The rally will be in support of Governor Pat McCrory, and state lawmakers for their passage of HB 2. Dr. Mark Creech, executive director of the Christian Action League said, “The bill that passed and the one the Governor signed, HB 2, overturned an egregious Charlotte ordinance and restored basic expectations of privacy people have when using the restroom. The bill also provides that private businesses can make their own decisions regarding accommodations and services and not be forced by a city ordinance to do certain things that could be detrimental to their business. It’s unfortunate this common sense measure has been so grossly misrepresented and maligned. The rally will seek to provide clarity, as well as cheer our state’s Governor and lawmakers on.” Nationally known featured speakers for the rally include: Bishop Harry Jackson Jr., an African-American preacher, a social conservative activist and commentator, and senior pastor of Hope Christian Church in Beltsville, Maryland. Also featured will be the Benham Brothers, David and Jason, who are identical twins. The brothers played major league baseball and were the hosts of the HGTV show, Flip it Forward. Another great speaker will be Christian author and apologist, Frank Turek. His television show, I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist, airs on the NRB Network. There will be a number of North Carolina based speakers such as John Rustin of the North Carolina Family Policy Council, Kami Mueller of the North Carolina Values Coalition, Ron Baity of Return America, and Rev. Mark Creech. Present to speak will be women who have been victims of sexual assault, as well as representatives of law enforcement. Again, the rally is for supporters of Governor Pat McCrory, and state lawmakers, who passed HB 2. It will be on the south side lawn of the capital building in downtown Raleigh, Monday, April 11th, starting at noon time. ### Media Contact:This email address is being protected from spambots. ATLANTA, Georgia, April 7, 2016 | Christian News Service | --Yesterday in The Daily Beast  and other "news" outlets, Mr. Donald Trump was falsely accused of "blowing off" the pro life movement by cancelling or reneging on an invitation to speak to pro life leaders. This is not true. I was at the meeting, and Mr. Trump did not reject any invitation. There was no meeting with Mr. Trump scheduled in the first place.  I personally have met Mr. Trump and have spoken with his staff and supporters on a regular basis, and find them very open to pro life discussions. I remain saddened by the "winner take all by any means necessary" affront that is being promulgated in this election season.  As a Christian Evangelist, I no longer endorse political candidates. I am called to pray for everyone, including all leaders.  “The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live.” - 1 Timothy 2:1-3 MSG While I sometimes privately offer support and advice to various candidates, In this election I urge Americans to pray and repent; and vote responsibly; and to not indulge in emotional mudslinging and lies.  Day Gardner, who has endorsed Mr. Trump was at the meeting in question, and has this to say regarding the scandalous lies about Mr. Trump blowing off pro life leaders yesterday:  "Day Gardner, President, National Black Pro-Life Union: Today's article put out by Daily Beast about Trump blowing off a meeting with pro-lifers is unreal. It didn't happen. How do I know?  I was in that meeting.  Donald Trump was not on the agenda and had no commitment to participate in any way in that meeting."  According to Fr. Frank Pavone, who was at the meeting in question, he said this is what happened: "Our organization reaches out to candidates regularly. Many of these conversations are off the record. But in fairness, let me make clear that Mr. Trump did not break any commitments to speak to me or any gathering I organize. On the contrary, I have had very friendly and fruitful interactions with him and members of his team and look forward to continuing…
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King JrToday is the 48th anniversary of the assassination of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The civil rights leader was in Memphis to support a sanitation workers’ strike when he was shot in the neck by a sniper as he stood on the second floor balcony of the Lorraine Motel. He was 39 years old. Evangelist Alveda King is Martin Luther King’s niece and has devoted her life to an often overlooked aspect of the civil rights movement. As director of Civil Rights for the Unborn, the African-American outreach of Priests for Life, she advocates for the lives of the most defenseless victims, children in the womb. “Today I feel very close to my uncle’s dream and vision for the 21st century,” she said. “However, in order to give genuine honor to the dream we must recognize an underrepresented group: The unborn. A woman has a right to choose what she does with her body. The baby is not her body. Where is the lawyer for the baby? How can the dream of Martin Luther King survive if we murder our children and desecrate the wombs of their mothers?” Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, said that just as Martin Luther King gave his life for the civil rights movement, pro-lifers have to be willing to do the same for the one million babies lost every year to abortion in the U.S. “As I wrote in my book Abolishing Abortion, we have to be ready to lay down our lives to end the violent segregation and prejudice of abortion,” Father Pavone said. “Martin Luther King and his brother, Rev. AD King, stopped at nothing to build the Beloved Community, and so must we. Let’s do what needs to be done.” Contact Information: Leslie Palma 347-286-7277
Manassas, Vir., March 17, 2016 | Christian News Service | – National Religious Broadcasters thanks U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry for concluding that the barbarism being perpetrated against Christians in the Middle East by ISIS is, in fact, “genocide.” “I applaud and welcome Secretary Kerry's announcement this morning that ISIS is perpetrating genocide against Christians and other minorities,” stated Dr. Jerry A. Johnson, President & CEO of NRB. “Now the United States is morally compelled to act in defense of our brothers and sisters whose lives and cultural heritage are being viciously assaulted simply because of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.”  NRB has and will continue to urge for U.S. government and faith leaders to acknowledge the reality of, and to pursue a call to action against, the persecution of Christians overseas, particularly in ISIS-occupied regions. Notably, Proclaim 16, the NRB International Christian Media Convention, held a special session on this genocide featuring Canon Andrew White, Vicar Emeritus of St. George's Church in Baghdad, who spoke from firsthand experience about the terrors of ISIS. Manassas, Vir., March 16, 2016 | Christian News Service | – National Religious Broadcasters support Congressional leaders in their resolve to allow the American people to have a voice at the ballot box before anyone is considered to fill the vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court following last month’s passing of Justice Antonin Scalia, leaders said today in response to President Barack Obama’s nomination of Judge Merrick Garland.  “Let us remember that Justice Scalia was an exceptional jurist with unwavering commitment to the integrity of the United States Constitution,” stated Dr. Jerry A. Johnson, President & CEO of NRB. “We know the poor track record of the Obama Administration on respect for freedom and the rule of law.  The American people should at least have a chance to vote in November before this President gets to place a third and likely generational-altering pick on the Court.” Last month in a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Dr. Johnson assured him the NRB would stand with him in his decision to wait on consideration of any Scalia successor until after the November elections.  In that letter, Dr. Johnson declared: The Constitution that Justice Scalia fought for decades to uphold provides the President the power to nominate judges and the Senate the power of advice and consent.  This is a key principle in the separation of powers between the branches of our nation’s government.  Unfortunately, America’s current President has shown little restraint in asserting authority in areas properly belonging to other federal branches, the states, or the people themselves.  I urge you to do all that you can to prevent the President from attempting to work around the will of the Legislative Branch in this matter. Moreover, Dr. Johnson noted, “The American people began to vote for change in 2014 by giving a new party control of the chamber, and the people will have a chance to speak again in the months ahead essentially on the fate of all three branches of government.” The full text of Dr. Johnson’s letter to Leader McConnell is here.  Also, a letter signed by Dr. Johnson and more than 100 other leaders committed “to make clear to the American people what is at stake and to rally our fellow citizens to the cause of saving the Constitution” is here. ATLANTA, GA, Feb. 15, 2016 | Christian News Service | – On the occasion of the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, Black Prolife Leaders mourn his death and decry current anti-life decisions which seek to impose abortion death sentences on hundreds of babies and mothers in New York and other communities.  “My heart breaks that America cannot take time to mourn with the Scalia family” said Catherine Davis, President of the Restoration Project. Instead, we must turn, immediately, to the political – assessing the ramifications of the death of this great jurist. We do pray with them, however, for strength and peace as they navigate this new normal of life without their husband, dad, and grandfather. Citing statistics from Too Many Aborted the leaders considered Justice Scalia to be “a champion civil rights voice for life.” “Justice Scalia understood what happens when being human is not enough to ensure protection from racial discrimination as a human. I thank God for the Fourteenth (14th) Amendment to the United States Constitution and for the legacy of Justice Scalia,” said Walter Hoye, Founder of Issues4Life Foundation.  Evangelist Alveda King, director of African American Outreach and a party to a Priests for Life HHS Mandate case before SCOTUS said, “Justice Scalia was a prophet in many ways. The loss of his opinions regarding the sanctity of life will create a terrible void.”  Pastor Stephen Broden of Dallas based Protect Life and Marriage Texas said: “The death of Justice Scalia has once again heightened the fact that the anti-life forces are working overtime to enforce killing babies as normative in our culture. SCOTUS is now considering major abortion cases that will impact how we as a nation will view abortion for a long time. The agenda on the left is apparent when in 2015 the Empire State legislators put forth legislation to shoot poison into the heart of babies well into the third trimester if a mother feels she is not “emotionally stable” to raise the baby. America needs to take notice of the anti-life agenda and vote to ensure and secure a pro-life presence on the Supreme Court.”  At the turn of the century, The Black Prolife Movement experienced a “resurgence” combining prominent 20th century civil rights voices and newly emerging Prolife voices. Adding to the “we shall overcome abortion” and “no more womb lynching” themes of L.E.A.R.N. and Black Genocide.org, many more Black Prolife organizations have emerged. Joined by partners…
