Phoenix, AZ, December 3, 2015 | Christian News Service |– USA Radio Networks CEO Floyd Brown has tasked radio veteran Rusty Humphries with re-imagining the talk radio format.
Humphries’ first project - which he will host - is “TRENDING TODAY USA with Rusty Humphries” a show that will launch January 11, 2016 and is expected to usher in a new era in talk radio.
“This program will focus on what America is discussing, viewing and sharing in social media,” says Humphries, “Everything has been reimagined, from the network commercials, to the music, to the way the news is being presented --this will be talk radio for the social media mindset!”
Humphries has extensive experience hosting, programming, and producing radio in a variety of formats – including talk.
“I believe this show, and others like it, will restore talk programing to prominence. It will breathe life into a format aching for a resuscitation,” he adds.
Experts agree that Rush Limbaugh remolded talk radio when he exploded onto the scene in 1988 and influenced a generation of talk radio stations and hosts across the country to replicate and imitate his sound -- a model most still follow today.
“Don’t get me wrong, there are some very talented people on the air today, but the industry needs some shaking up,” Humphries explains. “Listeners have moved away from traditional platforms and are spending their time on social media. We're producing a show which will not showcase my opinions, but will showcase the social news being devoured by Americans.”
TRENDING TODAY USA with Rusty Humphries will give affiliates programming that appeals to a multi-generational audience in the same way social media has done. It will provide advertisers and agencies with the audience they covet and make the show a commercial success.
“Americans are consuming news more than ever, but they are doing it on different platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn. With that in mind, I have worked with a group of social media giants to craft a show that lowers the bellicose and increases the pacing and news,” adds Humphries, “I am more proud of this program than anything I have done in radio to date.”
