Promoting Conservative Causes in an Industry Dominated by Liberals

Promoting Conservative Causes in an Industry Dominated by Liberals

Jackie Jones

My mission is to be the conservative catalyst for media everywhere. By trade, I am a conservative media specialist. I study the ins-and-outs of conservative media, and I study the people that make up conservative media.  In my efforts to promote the conservative agenda, its sometimes a challenge to find interviewees for radio producer requests.

There is something magical about Radio – it’s the “theater of the mind.” Radio interviews can be an effective way of communicating with targeted audiences that are likely to be interested in what you have to say. Also, you can do most radio interviews from the comfort of your own home, office or car.

The new NEWS RELEASE style

The new NEWS RELEASE style

Stop writing press releases and start writing news stories. Not sure how to start?

Let’s say you are the reporter and you are writing an article - because that’s your job. What is it about this release that makes for a great news piece?

What’s the story, the hook, the angle? How can this news release advance your career as a journalist? Why in the world would anyone care about it?

If you can’t figure those things out, don’t write the article, and don’t send the release. It’s that simple, because an actual reporter will cast an even more unenthusiastic eye at your news release.

So what’s new with news releases? Well, the modern news release is different because it actually does get published as is. In other words, thanks to online PR services, your news release automatically becomes web content, which means it has a shot at automatically becoming news.

Why Send a Press Release?

Why Send a Press Release?

Definition: A public relations announcement issued to the news media and other targeted publications for the purpose of letting the public know of company developments.

Think of a Christian press release as your ticket to publicity--one that can get you or your company exposure with social media, in publications, on TV and radio stations. Editors and reporters get hundreds of press releases every day. So how can you make yours stand out? Did you know that if you can provide links to videos and embed pictures in the press release, that increases engagement by about 18% for photos and 55% for videos?

Some questions to think about:

The timing, content and distribution of a press release depend on your goals for sending it. In your quest for media coverage are you seeking local coverage, regional coverage, national coverage, specific industry reach, niche coverage, or other? Are you trying to position your business, product, service or spokesperson? Are you trying to attract customers, shareholders or investors?

Press Release vs. News Release What’s the difference?

graphic3

A press release, news release, media release, press statement, audio release or video release is a written or recorded communication directed at members of the news media for the purpose of announcing something supposedly newsworthy.

Digital marketers seek to replace the term “press release” with “news release” because online press release distribution encompasses all kinds of “new media” – a new term in and of itself.

Some claim the term “news release” reflects the changing trends in media – using newer marketing methods, which include the Internet and digital platforms, while “press release” conveys an older, more dated term, used to refer the practice of sending or releasing news to the press.

Regardless of your company size or budget, you can reach the target audience you desire to reach with new media options. You can control how your news is distributed. There are many more options available than say ten years ago. The era of online communication puts an end to the old tradition where the editors and publishers controlled the destiny of your content.
